The Countryfile

The English Countryside. A place of beauty, where lush green trees run alongside carefully nurtured fields. Where the butterflies frolic with the bees and a river most probably runs through it. In previous years the odd rifle shot may have been heard, allowing onlookers the rare chance to view a variety of birds and the graceful leaps of the forest deer (who where normally too shy-to-fly / selfishly tending tending to their young). But a true rarity in nature is the Countryfile . Pronounced 'Kun-tree-vial' and more often than not wearing a hoodie, the Countryfile is by no means related to Pedo, but is often found with a tight luminous pink plumed with gold-bangles-and-slicked-back-hair-in-a-high-ponytail bird, pushing her young around in a buggy. Most Countryfiles tend to stick to the city streets, where they carefully blend in by avoiding eye-contact. However, every now and again they venture towards greener pastures where remnants of their spoor can be detected... The Lesser-...

Spotted...

No, I'm not about to pretend that I'm Gossip Girl. But I am going to tell you that I felt like the sneaky paparazzi - and had a good giggle about it with Lucky and Lindsay!! So, Lucky and I went to go meet up with our cousin for a catch up drink in London. We went to a really nice boutique hotel called The Charlotte Street Hotel . And whilst we were there we spotted a celeb having a quick coffee....and the only reason he was spotted was because a woman had come up to us asking for spare change and as she went to the table 3 down from ours she suddenly started looking frantically for a piece of paper and a pen...this got my attention and the camera was swiftly brought to life! Sad, but funny!! Well, we couldn't just pull out the camera and take pics of him so we had to take a couple of ourselves too...natrually ;) Afternoon tea, darling We're always classy... Lucky, Lindsay & I Being silly...again :p The Paparazzi-ing begins...... Recognise him?? It's Ben Fogle...

Simple Garden Pleasures

This afternoon as I lay on the reclining chair, angled to perfection to absorb the sun, I smelt the familiar. Chatty loud male voices, slowly ascending with fervour as the afternoon continues are the precursor. The odd whiff of cigarette smoke, the hand-held masculine jangle of beer bottles and the feminine tinkle of floating ice-cubes. The thick bag crinkles as it’s lifted, its contents tumble about in accordance with the law of gravity, falling, black, dirty and dry onto the single flame. It’s only moments before I know it’s alive, both on my nose and in the sting of the smoke in my eyes as it swirls, covering them, causing them to water – dousing their flame All the while I sit here. The hem of my skirt rolled up and tucked into the elastic of my knickers. The halter of my dress undone and secured into the bones of my bra. There’ll be no goose-flesh today, no weeping clouds to worry about. Only the sway of the leaves every now and again. This is the warmth of addictions. ...

Picture perfect BUT not so great on the nose

On Saturday, despite the rain, I headed out for a walk in the woods. It wasn't meant to be a walk in the woods, I was supposed to be walking out to a monument, but the rather heavy cloud cover (and my lack of listening to directions) resulted in me not being able to find it. As a good next option I thought a refreshing walk in the woods would be great. In between leaving the house and getting to the West Wood I took a drive. That's what I'll call it. We'll conveniently forget that I was temporarily lost. But I did get to see some beautiful countryside. For all those who have repeatedly told me to admire the countryside on the way up to Yorkshire (yes, beautiful bridges - which I'm underneath - and fabulous... cooling towers. Hang-on, is that Elderflower? No? Just Cow Parsley? OK.) Hampshire IS beautiful. Chuffed that I'd thought ahead and wasn't wearing baggy tracksuit pants that would trail on the ground, instead choosing to be practical, I zipped up my jac...

Winchester

It's where I'm at! Winchester's in Hampshire and really is beautiful (well, what I've seen) and not just pretty in the way that the average English countryside is pretty - it's more. I checked out what to do and found out the following: Things to do in the city centre: Winchester Cathedral The Great Hall and King Arthur's Round Table Winchester College City Museum The Westgate The City Mill Winchester Military Museums The Hospital of St Cross Wolvesey Castle River Park Leisure Centre Winchester Discovery Centre Did you see the second point? King Arthur's Round Table - how awesome! Of course, being the UK they included the local Leisure Centre. For anyone who watched the Brittas Empire like me, it's hard to take a Leisure Centre seriously. But back to Winchester , these pics are from my first day here: This is my favourite pic - how cool! Looking up the high street, Looking down the high street. This rad statue that I know nothing about (yet) is in the hi...

The Breakfast Club

Last week Kate, Jo, Joe & I went to Hoxton in London. We'd told the Jo's that we wanted to go somewhere cool and trendy with a vibe. Having Soho in mind (and now admitting ignorance about Hoxton) were were a little nervous that we wouldn't be going somewhere cool. However, we were pleasantly surprised. A little walk away from Liverpool Street Station (far enough to keep your heels in your handbag, but close enough for comfort) we began to spot the odd bar or two. They looked cool, we walked past... The last place we stopped in at was The Breakfast Club in Hoxton Square. This is by far the coolest place to have breakfast. Not only is it decorated with funky kitch in mind, but it serves THE MOST FABULOUS COCKTAILS EVER (must try: apple mojito). AND has funky bathrooms, completely decorated in cartoon wall paper - think a whole bathroom of the Ghost Buster - running out of bog roll, who you gonna call? Unfortunately by the time we arrived breakfast wasn't on the menu,...

I'm On A Bus

Mother Trucker! Last Friday night Meebs, Jac, Sash & I were On A Bus. Not all the time. Sometimes were were at the bus stop. We had our highy-heels and our lippy-glossy and we were downing shoty's! Living the London party dream! If you haven't seen the You Tube clip I'm On A Boat then you might not know what we're talking about. I suggest you watch this amazing piece of music artistry - an inspiration for your summer holidays! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7yfISlGLNU *Vulgar language might be used in this clip - reader discretion advised. Guess What?

... It's raining! And with the drums rolling in the background we're also getting a bit of a light show too! Meebs and I were going to go out tonight, but instead we're vegging on the sofa, playing on the computer, hoping we'll get the Sky signal back in time to watch the end of a very rivetting episode of Private Practice... The perfect fridge

It might be small, but we think it's well stocked. And thanks to Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food we've been preparing some rather delicious meals. ... and will continue to do so! Lucky
