Montacute House

Montacute house, built from Ham-stone in the Elizabethan style (ie in the shape of an 'E' to represent loyalty to Queen Elizabeth I) was the setting for the movie Sense & Sensibility and is home to the longest Long Gallery in England, AND where you can see some spectacular Tudor and Jacobean works of art (over 50)! It also has beautiful gardens... The view down the drive... Not the front of the house, but definitely one of the finer prospects! Taking wall decoration to a new level! Pillar lovers haven't quite got this much detail in SA yet! How about this for a front door? Complete with wheel chair access! The Orangery And the plants inside. Looking down the walled garden, from the outside! The ga-zay-bow - one could call it well situated. Apparently this garden is informal? Not short of beautiful View across the lawn from the walled garden The gentlemen would go galloping down here - now there are just cattle, enjoying the well cut lawn. Some more flowers...
